Making Porridge Interesting – Vegan Tip #2

Eating porridge is one of the best ways to start the day, but a lot of people can be turned off because it’s easy to see oats as boring and bland. Much like rice and quinoa and couscous, this isn’t the case at all!

You can make porridge with plenty of alternative milks to modify the flavour, from almond to coconut to hazelnut. I usually opt for hazelnut milk with a dash of vanilla essence and once that’s cooked I’ll top it with pistachios and chia seeds. I also poach some fruit in a little coconut oil or agave nectar to add to the top.

You can also opt for almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds or cacao nibs as a topping with peaches, pears, dates and strawberries as well. You can also purΓ©e some fruit and add it on top of the porridge (I like to go for mango or blackberry) or you can mix in some cacao powder.
