If you ever have a few soft apples lying around that are nearly past their sell by date, don’t throw them out; instead, make some delicious apple sauce!
It’s super easy to make, doesn’t take much time and you can keep it in a jar in the fridge for up to 3 days! It’s delicious mixed into porridge and (my personal favourite) drizzled over vanilla ice cream with some crushed biscuit. You’ll be amazed how much it tastes like apple pie!
- Apples (I used 2 large ones and 1 medium)
- 2 tbspn pure maple syrup
- 1 cup of water
- A dash of cinnamon
Core and dice the apples
Place them in a pot with the water, the maple syrup and the cinnamon
Cook on a high heat, constantly stirring until the apples have a mushy, lumpy consistency
Take off the heat and let cool for a few minutes
Place in a blender and blitz for 30 seconds
Store in a glass jar in the fridge or use immediately
